Welcome from Southern CA. Hope you will find as much inspiration as I do from this site.

Might suggest you go down to your LQS and ask for advice. Making a King size quilt is very difficult for a beginner. I know this because I did the same thing in the mid 80s. Try doing some smaller projects first to get your basic skills developed. Quilting is like any other craft such as knitting or painting, you have to develop skills especially with cutting accurate pieces and sewing an accurate 1/4" seam. If you have had some sewing experience, you will pick up the skills quicker. Good Luck!!

Welcome from Northern Indiana!

Are you planning on piecing by hand or just the quilting by hand? There has been some great advice so far and I also recommend starting with something smaller before jumping into such a huge project. You will find the QB a great source for ideas and advice as you work your way through it. If you want to start with something small I recommend looking at Mystery Quilt #10 by paintmejudy. Its a simple pattern and she gives instructions from small table runner size to a full size quilt.

Welcome! Nine patch would definitely be easy to do by hand. Wow your first and it's a big quilt! I've done a few by machine and it was hard because of sheer size! You are amazing! Can't wait to see it done. Batting-to me it depends of where you live, warm and natural, if you want ot fluffy use high loft, if you are quilting it yourself that would be cool to hand tie ! Good luck

Yes I plan on doing it all by hand,I don't have a machine and I don't feel like buying one. I feel like more love and care goes into a hand-crafted one than a machine crafted, just my opinion, plus machines mess me up in everything.
