 I can't believe I am on this site........... I am from OK, have been quilting since I was 5-6. I learned to sew on a treadle sewing machine. I just sold it,,, no I gave it to Charity. A person can only house so many machines. Even though "It" was first I have six others that take up room also. I gave up three of the others and gave one to my daughter. I do more embrodary, and Home Decorating than I do Quilting, but was asked to come onto this site by a Friend. I do love to Quilt I just feel that when I use the machine,,,,,,,,, I 'm not a "Real Quilter". That was what my Aunts would tell me. All eleven told me that when I was little. I love pattern making, and have several other Hobbies also. I have been pouring porcelain dolls and statuary for years and now with COPD, I have to back out of that too.
I confess, I am a Fabricolic. Have had this problem since 5th grade, elemantry School, "1956". I have never passed a checkout stand in a fabric store,,,,,I have to have at least three yds of several, or as a Decorator, I never let any of my samples go into the trash. I am a horder of Fabric..........Help is on the way. However, since I thought that I would never be Quilting again I gave three trunks of Decorator Samples and swatches to Charity. (I have started to replace them according to husband and daughter,,,,,,,,,,,,,. I admired the blue Jeans Quilting yesterday, (Saw only a Few) and thought of the many that I had quilted. Being Cherokee Indian, I made Quilts for all the babies,,,,,and when they went to college, I made then two types of Quilts, one being out of the worn out jeans I saved. I think I might have one of the Crazy Patch that I made for one of the sons. He was a Rough neck at OU......so It had to look hard and tough. It sure saw alot of Football, and rode in the Schooner alot.
Since I quit smoking, My finger have replace my mouth, and I do alot of writing now. So much for this book, I am glad to be here and learning from all of you professional Quilters out there.
