New in Iowa
Hello everyone. Joining in from Iowa. Look forward to sharing ideas. I was sent here looking for ways to incorporate counted cross stitch squares (done many moons ago!) into quilts. I've been working on finishing projects (what an idea, huh!?!) that have been on my shelves for far too long.

Welcome from NW Iowa. I am hoping to get down to the quilt show in Des Moines this year. I am on a farm and its such a busy time, but I am getting "over the hill" to help with some of the harvesting.

Hello from South Louisiana! I searched for cross stitch squares in a quilt. Lots of wonderful pictures. Maybe one of these would work. https://www.bing.com/images/search?q...uilt&FORM=IGRE
I haven't found specific details about quilting or if you have to back the squares before sewing them into the quilt top. Look forward to finding out how you end up incorporating them and what worked and what didn't. This website sells quilt kits with cross stitch patterns included. https://quilting-warehouse.com/colle...tch-quilt-kits And looks like this may be what you want.... http://www.stitchingthenightaway.com...stitch-pieces/ |
Greetings from near Seattle! I just registered here myself, seems like a nice group of people posting here.
I am so impressed by people who can do counted cross stitch and who are trying to finish stuff. My vision is just not good enough for the cross stitch and I've been counting my finished tops as done... but now I have about 12 tops to quilt down. I'm getting better at the machine quilting but it is not my strong suit, I love to design and piece. Still... if I can clear out all those tops I will have more room in my former sewing room/now turned into my fabric storage room to where I have no room to work in there. How big are your cross-stitched blocks in general? A basic medallion layout could work with a big block in the center and maybe some smaller blocks around it. Or maybe space out the cross-stitch blocks with crazy quilt blocks and go ahead and do some fancy stitches (by hand or machine) on the crazy blocks. I'd imagine the t-shirt quilt concept would also work for you. |
