Hi everyone! I'm GeGe from Plains,Ks. We are located about 3 hours west of Wichita and 8 hours west of Kansas City. We are less than 30 miles from the Oklahoma Panhandle and about an hour away from the Texas state line. Other location helps are; we are 3 hours from Amarillo Tx and 5 hours from Oklahoma City. Now on a personal note. I started quilting about 8 years ago but didn't get serious about it til 2 1/2 years ago. In April,2008 I was diagnosed with Stage 3 Type B Ovarian Cancer. I was more or less given a death sentence by my surgeon but in talking to my gp I found what treatments were available. Not much! I was scheduled to start chemo and decided I needed something to do while I was sitting there all day so I started cutting squares and triangle out of a stash of batiks I had. I finished my chemo in September,2008 with flying colors and finished pieceing my quilt top a month later. It turned out to be a queen size. Since then I have hand pieced and hand quilted several guilts. I have since found out that teal is the color representative of ovarian cancer and my four of my quilts have been made with teal fabric. I have since started a Double Wedding Ring-from batiks- by hand. I have 6 grandchildren and have completed quilts for 3 of them. Since my illness I speak out as often as I can about ovarian cancer. September is ovarian cancer month and each year since my diagnosis I have done newspaper interviews to get the word out. You probably won't find me on heref very often-because I'm not a very good comunicator but I just wanted to say Hi.

Hi, I am new to this site also. I am from New Hampshire. I have a sister in Maize, I was there this summer visiting. It was very hot! I will be relocating to Baltimore, Maryland area in the near future. Husband's job. I love to quilt, find it very relaxing and a fun way to be creative. :-)
