Hi Diane I am new here as well. I have property in central Maine and am up there often. I can also vouch for Marden's if you haven' t been you might want to visit, yummy fabrics. There is a very large quilt group in Maine called the Pine Tree Quilters, they have several branches all thruout the state. I hope this helps you out. I also used to live in OK, in Stroud and in OKC, loved it but was petrified of all the tornado warnings lol.

Welcome from one Mainer to another, Richmond, Maine here. Located in the middle of Augusta, Bath, Lewiston /Auburn and Brunswick.
The ladies here from Maine gave you the best info you can find and that is MARDENS ! LOL love Mardens, fabrics are nicely priced , you'll be so surprised! And many to choose from , I agree that Sanford, Lewiston and Waterville Mardens have the best variety to choose from.
As to a quilting group if you don't find one perhaps just by shopping at a nearby Mardens you can start a group.
Course we Mainers ( thats you too) snuggle down and quilt in the winter so am sure you will find a nice group in your area..

Well, the Ellsworth Marden's isn't too shabby for fabric either. The Pine Tree quilters put on an annual quilt show too in the summer. Haven't been yet but would love to, someday.
