New Member...Missing my quilting room after move
Hello everyone. I have just moved to live with my niece and all quilting related items are in temporary storage. I need a quilting fix! For right now I have everything in boxes waiting for room to unpack after the first of the year. I have been without internet for several years so for now I am forced to spend time getting back into cyberspace rather than quilting.

Welcome! Look at pictures, get some more ideas so when you get set up you'll be raring to go! Maybe it will take the edge off and give you a quilt fix? What about trying paper piecing??

Welcome from Texas. Soon you'll get your space and it'll be worth the wait.

Hello and welcome to the board.

Welcome, I feel your pain. I have been there and will be soon again. Every year after Thanksgiving I have to tear down most of my sewing area to fit the xmas tree in. I hate it. Last year I fell into such a mopey state from not quilting that even once xmas was over it took months to get up the gumption to put it all back up. This year I am demanding a smaller tree, bigger house, or a temporary change of venue for my sewing area. LOL

Welcome from Oregon. What about some hand work, that might help you get through the next couple months?

Can you embroidery? I have to sit in the car sometimes for a few minutes and sometimes and hour. I always keep a plastic bag in the door panel with something small to work on to fill the time. Little things can become a small gift when you need something quickly.

When I was offered the chance to move to Florida I not only packed up my stuff but also packed my Mom's 4 sewing machines and her stash. I had avoided going through her goodies for way too long and am looking forward to having a chance to finish 5 or 6 quilt tops that I found hidden in her sewing room. Only one was hers. The others are either my Great Grandma's work or Mom's step mom's work. All three are gone now so this will be my way to pay tribute to all of them. I promised myself I would finish them before any new projects get started.
For now I will be happy with checking what others are doing and getting ideas for new projects. I really miss not having anyone in the house that is interested in quilting to talk to so felt that this would be a good place to find someone that speaks Quilt. I am soooooooooo looking forward to getting to know everyone and sharing ideas. I want to thank everyone for the warm welcome too. |

Welcome. I am new also. I was going to complain about my very small quilting room that I now have after our move, but your dilemma of no room to quilt totally negates my complaint. I feel for you. If you lived nearby, you would be welcome to come over and sew so you could get your quilting fix. Some communities have sewing groups. Maybe you could look into that where you are living, so you could get out to sew if there is a group or quilt shop that has a sew day.
