Hello. I have been reading messages for a few weeks, but the comments about the F-word made me want to participate. I was laid up from Jan 4 until March 19 due to some surgery. My sweet hubby brought me drawers and boxes of fabric one at a time so I could look thru them for fabrics for a project I could work on that needed lots of different pieces. As I went thru all the stuff, I came across about 10 projects that I had started and totally forgotten about, in various stages from just cut out to almost done. That's in adition to the 10-15 I already knew about. I am a great starter, but I think I am allergic to finishing!
Thanks to all of you who have made me laugh right out loud. I love this. |
Ahhh, laughter, the VERY BEST medicine!
Welcome to the Board! sue |

Hello and Welcome to the greatest place on the internet. :D I hope you are healing well from surgery. I recently had surgery 3 weeks ago and am still sore and seem to be healing slowly. Slowly but surely! Anyway, everyone here is so helpful and thoughtful. Anything you have questions about, do not be afraid to ask, believe me someone here will know the answer. :)

Welcome to all of you. I'm sure you will enjoy being here it gets addicting. Before you know it it will be the first you go in the morning and the last place you go at night., and we won't say how often in between.
Isnthatood I found that the quilting has been good physical theropy after neck and shoulder injury. It sure beats some theropist yanking on me. Hope you heal soon |
Thanks. I am making good progress. In fact, I had to go back to work, so lost all the time I had for quilting. Oh well, there's always the summer.
|
quilting is not only for your body it also helps to heal the soul at least a little.I lost my little girl 16 months ago and my sewingmachine is the only thing keep my mind off the pain a little

 I am Leslie and very new to quilting. I have spent the last 4-5 years requesting donation and cutting fabric for a group in Oshkosh Wisc.
Now it's time for me to learn. I would really like to get a pattern and instruction for Washington Pavement? Or I believe that is the name. Can you help Me???? I will help anyone who doesn't mind a NEWBIE!!!!! |

Thanx Sammy89. I am glad there is hope for me yet. I don't have a picture, but I will try and find one. The Washington Pavement pattern was suggested to me to try.
Leslie  |
I have a pattern for a block called the Washington Puzzle, but it looks like a block for an advanced piecer, not a newbie. I will scan it in if you like.
|
I have never seen the pattern but will look As far as being a newbie we all were once and you'll find everyone here is always willing to help . Welcome to our world.
As a newbie you might want to try doing our BOMs great way to learn how to quilt and learn to make differnt types of blocks. You try the blocks you want and can post pic if you want. We're full of encourgement here |
Sammy89,
We are glad to have you. You have lived every parents worst nightmare & I am so sorry for your loss. I have 3 girls & can't imagine my life without one of them. I am glad for you to have found the stregnth to return to quilting for rehabilitating therapy, and I am glad you found us. Maybe we can be of some "professional" (I use that term loosly- some of us are border line certifiable on our best days  ) assistance, and hopefully some of our antics will bring an occasional smile to your face. Carla |
This is the only thing I found so far on Washington pavement quilt
404.Washington Pavement: No special supplies. (Pattern for Washington Pavement is in March/April 2004 issue of Love of Quilting.) I do not however have that issue someone might |
Hello. I'm a beginner Texas Quilter. I have to confess choosing the fabric is my favorite part.
|
I think most of us can spend days choosing fabric I know I have spent almost an entire day more then once
|
[b]Hello everyone! I am new to the forum, but very pleased to say I have been on the mailing list for quite a while, now. I enjoy your messages, and I so appreciate your kindness in sharing. My quilting skills, are minimal now, however, hopefully one day I will be able to share some ideas. I have learned that 'ripping', is no fun, if that helps anyone. Therefore, slow and steady, works better for me.
Happy stitching, Emerald |
Howdy! to one and all. I am sure you will continue to find lots to keep you occupied with on here, and helpful hints galore!
|
thanks Carla for your kind words. It dos help to talk or just let it out sometimes.I also make dolls but quilts are my favorite.Of course there is nothing better then fabric shopping.I like applique, by machine so, not to patient for handstitching .and love to shop for all those lil embellishments.
|
Thanx Cathie, but maybe I should start with something Very, Very Easy.
I can cut with the acrylic rulers, but have not mastered the art of quilt patterns yet! Thanx for your kindness. |
 I have heard of BOM, but how do I get started? Do I need to sign up? My skill level is very very basic, but my energy is very high!
|
Welcome to the quiltingboard I know you'll enjoy it here
All you have to do is go the the Main forum and find the BOM for each month Do the ones you want no rules except to have fun. I am fairly new and it is a great way to learn new skills. Most of us post a pic of finished block on pic page. |
[b]I am so sorry for your loss, Sammy. I shall remember you in my Prayers. Also, I am glad that quilting is a help for you. It calms me down, as well. I have only a few projects, but working on them, helps me get through some rough, 'patches'. Be well.
Yours in Christ, Emerald |
Hi everyone. I am really new to quilting, but it is something I have wanted to do for a long time. When I found this site I was really excited. I am really looking forward to begin quilting. My husband and I are going to take off sailing around the world in a few years and I thought that this would be a good way to make some extra cash every now and then when we need it. I look forward to learning tons from this site. :D
Sammy, I am truely sorry for your loss, you are in my prayers. Glad to hear that quilting helps, even a little bit. |
[b][i]Welcome, Nancy! There are lots of great ideas, on this site! I am not a proficient quilter, yet, but I sure am trying. Your trip, sounds like fun, enjoy!
Happy stitching, Emerald |
Hey All... Welcome! Welcome! Welcome!
The easiest block I have ever made is a rail fence... Cut strips, sew them together side by side, press, & cut blocks from the strip units. Sew blocks together in rows, playing with the placement for the desired effect. Instant quilt top. (basicly) Google search it... You'll see many variations of it and placement ideas, but it is still super easy. (Good practice too) Hope this helps... Good luck! :-) |
