Hi, I am in wonderful Wyoming, and have read your messages for quite a while. Finally decided to add my own, I have been quilting for about 10 years, with just a few lessons so am mainly self taught, with books and magazines. My latest project is a flannel rag quilt for our granddaughter and her new husband, for a Christmas gift.
We live in a small town with no quilt shops, and have to drive at least 100 miles to find one, so have to plan and make a list when we do go out of town. In the winter we go to AZ for 6 months and there are quilt shops there, so try to buy what I will need for the summer there. Will watch for more tips and suggestions on the forum, perky2 |

More specifically, May. What are you planning to see there?
|
TY, early or mid - May? I don't want to see snow, ty very much. We are thinking about flying into Jackson, renting a car, then driving the loop through Tetons and Yellowstone, east to Cody and down to Sheridan and back to Jackson. That's just from looking at the map. Think that is a good plan? We figure it will take a week.

If it's yellowstone, think more the first week of june. When we spent a week in yellowstone about the end of may it was chilly at night, rainy about every 2nd day. But beautiful because of the new animals, green grass. If you wait until later in July, all the grass is dried up and it's terrible hot. Plus the crowds.
|
You will probably see snow in that area until the middle of June, at least up high. and in the mountains, its always chilly at night. But it is beautiful! Hope you get to go!
|
:D Thanks for the info. The first of June sounds good. We went to Bryce and Zion this year (Utah) with friends and plan to make an annual road trip with them. We have always wanted to see Wyoming. The guys are really cowboys at heart - though I am the one who rides horses!

You were at Zion and didn't stop to say HI???!!! I live right there. Next time someone comes through. . . .

Welcome from SW Iowa and glad to have you here.

Welcome from Dubois, WY. glad you joined us and I know what you mean about having to drive a long ways to a quilt shop. I stay the winters here in the mountains I love the snow and cold.

Hi I am also in Wyoming and have to drive to quilt shops we also go to Az.
for a month or 2 at the most in the winter as I am one of those who likes the snow it is the best sewing time I am about 40 miles from Cody where are you happy quilting Dodie |
Hello and Welcome :D :D :D
|
If you don't want to see snow June would be the better time. If you come early May the parks are not open yet you wouldn't be able to see Yellowstone and Teton Natatioal Park with all their beauty. If you came early August we were in Dubois, WY.have are Quilt Show and if I say so myself for a small town it a pretty good one. Last year one of the editors from Patchwork Quilts came by on her vacation and said it was one of the best she'd seen.
