Hi! I have been learning to quilt for about 4 years and don't quite consider myself a quilter yet, although I'm getting there. It's nice to have a place to communicate with other quilters and I have a question already.

My husband and I bought a Singer 9W treadle machine a couple of years ago. Last year hubby got the parts to make it run and then it sat there until today. We actually made the thing sew! Getting used to the treadle will take some doing. Here's my question: Is there a way to FMQ on the 9W? We noticed that it didn't come with a darning foot. Is there one available or one that will work with it? Also, there doesn't seem to be a way to drop the feed dogs without removing that part. Does this machine require a cover for the feed dogs?

Any help is appreciated.

Welcome from SW PA. I have a treadle too, but don't even have it running yet. Good luck on finding the answers you're looking for....I've no clue!

Welcome from Michigan! I've never tried quilting on mine, but it's a nice little workhorse, and kind of fun to treadle when you get used to it.
