New from Minnesota

I have reading this web site for long time and have received many useful tips and ideas. I am looking for some ideas for 12" block for a wedding quilt for my niece. All the aunts are contributing a block. I don't do appliqué and not good at circles. But would like to make something unique.
I know you all will be able to provide me with some fun ideas!!!

Welcome Island Queen to the Board from TN. What a great quilt idea for the bride's aunts to do. It will be a treasure.

Waving from Pennsylvania. Ideas for 12 inch block Hmmmm-how about using hearts to make a design in the bridal colors if you know them-arrange several of them to please yourself then stitch them down!! I used this technique earlier this year for blocks for LQS donation quilt-you can get precuts at Keepsake quilting or make your own template and cut them out with fusible web on the back. Good Luck Best stitches

Welcome from Ontario, Canada. A pieced heart block should be easy to find. Try going to www.quilterscache.com (quilt blocks galore) and having a look though the blocks there.

Thank you, Tartan. The web site provided lots of ideas. Lots of blocks using paper piecing. I have never done that before. I have been quilting for 11 years. I have stayed away from paper piecing and appliqué.

Welcome to our family circle. You'll love it here! Think about trying your hand at paper-peicing. I was the same way as you, been sewing for 50 years, had seen some old quilts that were peiced on old newspaper. Thought to myself, why in the world would anybody do that? About 5 years ago I got a PC and found the internet, kept seeing these beautiful PP quilts. Long story, short, ordered me a Carol Doak book and a whole new world of quilting opened up for me. It was a light bulb moment, wish I had discovered it 50 years ago! Try it we will all cheer you on!

Welcome from New Hampshire
I like log cabin and jacobs ladder for 12" blocks
If a lot of folks are making these blocks, I'd stay away from paper piecing - lots of quilters, me among them, find it difficult and easy to make mistakes.

Hello from a native Minnesotan transplanted to the North Carolina mountains. Born on the Range, lived in Rochester, Duluth, St Paul, Duluth again until three years ago. Still have a cabin on, as they say, beautiful Lake Vermilion. No block ideas, sorry.
