Hi: I'm from Wisconsin and have been reading topics on the board for awhile. I really enjoy it. I have a real problem. I got the bow tuck tote pattern, and I.m sure having a problem with getting the handles on. Noticed a good tutorial, but nothing was said about the handles. I see they are between the lining and outside, but would
you believe it, I even had them sowed inside the bag. Any advice would be helpful. If I can master that, then I'll have it masted. Maybe, my old age is interfering, but hope not. Thanks all. and keep up with the good posting and tutorials. |

Welcome to the board from Southern California!!
I have never made on either, but there are many many on here who have. Ask you question under main or tutorials. |
On the back side of your bag find the middle and place your button loop there measure over 2.5 inches and pin your handle raw edges together move 2.5 inches ion the other side and pin the other end of the handle make sure it is not twisted, on the front find the center and pin your handles the same way. I stitch across mine several times to secure them. Now put your pieces right sides together lining inside of the bag and sew around the top turn right side out through the hole in the lining bottom and top stitch around the top.
Hope this helps. |
Thank you. I'm new at this, so appreciate any help received.

Thanks for the info. The problem that bothers me is if the handles are between the lining+pff and front of bag=pff, what happens when you sew around the whole top. I don't understand how to sew around the whole top, doing a good job, with your handles out.
Does that sound too complicated? |
The handles point down and they are going to go between the lining and right side of the purse after the top is sewed all the way around turn the bag right side out through the hole in the lining your handles will then be sticking up then you top stitch around the whole top about a 1/4 inch down.

Thanks Donna, will definitely try to get them right this time.
