Hi Carolyn! Welcome to the Quilting Board from sunny Nevada! Since you're new to machines, how new? Can you thread it? Wind a bobbin? Change needles and feet? Do you have a manual to go with it? Did you buy it at a shop, and if so, do they offer basic sewing classes? If not, do you have a basic sewing book to start with, or a basic quilting book? Don't go buy the store out! If you want cogent recommendations, PM me, and I'd be happy to tell you what I think is best. (I have more quilting books than the library!) In fact, the library may be a very good place for you to start. Don't buy a book until you've tried it out, like it, and it works for you.
As for questions, fire away! Anyone on this Board would be happy to go out of their way to help you along. And that's a promise! This is one great group. You won't find a better blog anywhere, trust me. So don't be shy. We're all anxious to be helpful. Just let us know what you need, OK? Where do you need to start? Happy Holidays! |
