New Quilter AND a Newbie on Computers.

Hello, I am a new quilter and also am just now getting to know how to use the internet. I love that I can find easy patterns to do online and that a lot of the time they are even free. My very first quilt I made was a double Irish chain quilt - people told me it was too hard for a 1st quilt, but I think I did OK with it. I found this place accidentally, but it looks like it is the prefect place to help learn about quilting.

Welcome from NJ. Double Irish Chain was my first real quilt as well....other than a practice table runner. I thought it turned out quite well, thank you very much, as I'm sure yours did as well. This site will be an invaluable resource for you. One word of caution on free on-line patterns...check the instructions and calculations well. I've been quilting for about 10 years or so now. Am in the process of hand quilting a largish baby quilt that I did from an online source. Fabric calculations were off - at least for the backing and the cutting/piecing directions had a lot of waste. Read, read, read the directions very well and check the calculations as best you can. That really goes for any patterns but it's the first time I've had this issue to the degree this particular pattern was 'off'. Good luck and enjoy the process.

Welcome from Australia. This is indeed the place for you because of all the help you will get from the very knowledgable people that can help with quilting and quilting related computer problems. Their advise to me about my ipad and quilting apps have been invalulable. Let alone all the inspiration that will be coming your way.
