Welcome to the QB! You can learn a lot here and make QB friends, too.

as you develop your skills, don't let the practice pieces go to waste. Finish them off, pair with a used stuffie appropriate to the size and donate to a children's charity - the little ones love the new toy and they don't care if the stitches are wonky or if the points don't match. You will have learned a new skill and made a child happy at the same time (and maybe made yourself happy by getting rid of one more stuffed toy!)

Hi! I am a newbie too, also quilting on a vintage machine (a Singer 600e). I found this beginner quilting series incredibly helpful! https://www.quiltaddictsanonymous.com/learntoquilt/

Welcome! You’ll find our ‘tent” is large with people pursuing a variety of projects. Joining a quilt guild may give you many ideas and lots of support. I’ve been quilting for about 50 years and learn something new every day. It’s a whole lot of fun!

Sending a warm welcome from Delaware, the west side. Quilting is highly addictive so beware. LOL The best advice is to learn to cut accurately and work to find an accurate 1/4” seam. Once you master those skills, the rest should be easy for you since you already having sewing skills under your belt. Learn to love your seam ripper. I named mine Steve and we some days have long conversations. LOL Have fun! Even an imperfect quilt will keep you warm.
