Just started quilting . Love it. Have finish a baby quilt top. Direstions said to square up quilt top. Help!!!!
How do you do this. Violet Lou |
Welcome to the board from Southern California.
When I square up the quilt top I use a 12 1/2" large square ruler in the corners and try to get a good square corner while making sure that I am not making the boarders real uneven to do so. I then use a 6 x 24 ruler to trim up all the sides trying to keep the borders a consistent width. Some of the folks here use a carpenters T square. I hope this helps! |
Thanks,Jim Gem

Oh no, another quilter who will get the bug. I started with a lap quilt, which cost me 600.00. I had to buy myself a sewing machine first. That was 4 years ago, and like the energizing bunny I have kept going and going. Now I am making lap quilts for our shut-ins from church. With the other scraps I have left I will be making lap quilts for the Womens' shelter in our neighbourhood. All worthwhile projects for the leftovers.

I have tried both. I prefer to baste, that way when you quilt, you do not have the pins to contend with. Sometimes, I use both, depending on the size I make.

Ah, another Ontarian to ask questions too. Maybe even to join my Busy Bee quilting meeting

As much as I dislike basting it is what I do. It works better for me than pins. I've also used that basting gun and I like it also. But I wish basting wasn't important b/c I'd love to skip that step lolol :D
