Hello everyone.
I am a brand spanking new to quilting as of a few days ago. Part of this is my GF fault as she renew my passion for sewing again. DH was kind enough to go with me to buy a new sewing table since I did not have one. So my machine is all set up now. Now I need to learn what I can about quilting. So I thought to join here and see what you all can teach me about this new hobby. I look forward to getting to know you all and learning alot. :) Tamara |

Hi Tamara and welcome to the board from Georgia. My recommendation would be to take a beginning quilting class at your LQS (local quilt shop). But--this is such a friendly place to be, you will pick up lots of tips and learn a lot here.

Welcome from Maine!! I took a class & learned a "log cabin pattern" for my first quilt. Once you learn the basic you can learn to do anything.
|
Welcome to the board from a fellow Tennesseean. I have been following this board for years, just joined a few months ago and love it. You will find all the information you will need about sewing and quilting from here. There are so many crafters and quilters. I would suggest just to dig in and start, my first quilt was a small baby quilt for a friend, then a lap quilt. They kept growing. Have fun.

You must be closer to me then cybercat.. I'm just south of Knoxville in Blount County.. There are 2 excellent quilt shops near here, Roosters just S. of Maryville and Pappy's on Sevierville Road.. both awesome shops!! I'm sure there's probably more, I just am familiar with those. Give me a shout out.. maybe we can get together to stitch (or shop!) sometime.

Hi, and welcome to the Board. I initially taught myself how to do very basic quilting, and had done that for years. November of 2008 I decided I'd take a class to learn more. What I found was that there are so very many techniques to make blocks quickly and accurately. So, I'm a huge fan of taking classes now. The people on this site are so encouraging and helpful. You'll love it here.
My cousin (who is my best friend) used to live in Kingsport, TN. |
Hi and welcome Ninnie in NC

Tippy Knoxville is almost a 2 hour drive for me now. I used to live in Morristown and it was not that far. Now Johnson City is way closer like 30 mins. I hope to make it to the Jonosbrough store soon. I hear it is a site to see 80, 000 fabrics and they have a quilt fest in the middle of the year.
