Hi everyone,

To say that I am a novice would be putting it mildly. I have not touched a sewing machine since Jr. HS and I am 41 tomorrow!!

I am a nurse and I take care of a lady with end stage AD. She was a wonderful quilter and she has inspired me to learn the craft. I have a few books on the subject from the library, but wow, do I have alot to learn!

Any tips on machines or just wishing a newbie luck, because I am going to need it!

Well, corgi you have come to the right place. There are so many talented quilters on here that will gladly help you every step of the way. I have learned alot in the short time I have been a member of the board. Good luck, but just fair warning both quilting and this forum are addicting.

Oh, and welcome from south Louisiana

Welcome from florida, and we all have a lot to learn about quilting. It's as diverse as the fish in the sea...that's one of the things that's so great about it :D
You just jump in, and start splashing around, and learn as you go along, while looking at books, mags, and tutes on this site, and post questions when you hit a bump, and pictures, when you get over the bump!
We loooove pictures, and you are in for so much fun

Hello and welcome from Western Australia....This is a great forum, a very inspiring and welcoming place to share and learn. One of the best things is the diversity found here, so you are bound to find just what you need to start your quilting journey.
