Hi, I'm fairly new to quilting, and would so much appreciate help from all the experienced quilters out there. I have a 1/4 inch seam guide foot on my machine, but when I use it, the seam comes out a little over 1/4. This throws off the whole size of the quilt block. Help?
Thanks!

Hi Rochelle! Would love to trade places with you!! I was born in San Diego...5th generation! :)

As for your seam...does your machine have the ability to move the needle over a notch or two? If it does, try moving the needle to the right two notches and see what happens with that...

Wow, I don't know! But I'll check it out! Thanks for the idea.

Hello and welcome from central Alabama. I have the opposite problem. Mine is just shy of 1/4 inch so had to adjust by moving the needle.

Welcome from Northern California!

Regarding your delimina with 1/4 inch. Before I got a machine that actually had a 1/4 inch foot, I used my Mom's old White Machine. I used masking tape and marked it on my machine. I've heard of other people getting moleskin (for blisters, etc.) to stick on your machine exactly 1/4 inch from the needle. It is thicker so it actually provides a barrier to butt your fabric against.

(I have to admit that even with a 1/4 inch foot my seams don't always come out right.....but, I keep trying!)
