WELCOME FROM MICHIGAN.....I agree with Val, taking just one beginner class is a valuable thing and worth every penny. You will learn how to use the tools for cutting and sewing and along the way tips that are priceless. It will save you from frustrations too. I took one back around 2000 and from that class, I made 8 quilts in two years, several from the same pattern (irish chain). And of course you will also get loads of information from this site. Watch a lot of tutorials too. Good luck in your new venture, you will love it.....

Welcome to the board. Please join us at the York County Quilter's meeting. It is at 7:00 at the Luthern Church on Oakland Ave. in Rock Hill. Usually meetings are held the third Monday of the month. In November it will be the Second Monday.
If you think there is a quilt shop in Atlanta that has a lot of Fabric, you should take a trip to Gastonia,NC to Mary Jo's Fabric Shop. It is about 40 min. from York,SC. It has lots of Cotton Fabric and every other kind of fabric you could possibly need.

I've lived here for 6.5 years now. I know about Maryjo's. I even went looking for it one day. But it wasn't easy to find and I wasn't comfortable at the time with its location. So now that I know it is a quilting store I will have to go! As for the York Co. Quilters I will have to catch it after the new year. I'm afraid my kids keep my taxi in commission waaaaayyyy toooooo much. :) Thanks for the invite! :-D
