New as of today, Wanda the Granny from California

I am 77 years old and have reduced by quilts to baby quilts, as I am to old to handle larger ones. Would love to share designs with others. My favorite is applique, and love any and all subjects. I also would like to know how to paper piece. My mother used to paper piece, but I don't know how she did it.
I may take a vacation from the quilting board from time to time because I have other hobbies. Love genealogy, and cooking.

Welcome Granny from Wisconsin. You'll get lots of ideas here. Good luck with the paper piecing. I know people that love it or hate it. I'm in the latter!

Welcome from Ontario, Canada. The paper piecing your mother probably did was either English paper piecing for Grandmothers Flower Garden or foundation paper piecing scrap blocks. Bonnie Hunter has a Spiderweb pattern under her free pattern tab that is foundation paper pieced http://www.quiltville.blogspot.ca
There are newer paper piecing methods that allow you to piece intricate pictures from paper patterns that you sew through. A site for those is http://www.paperpanache.com/

Welcome to the board Granny (79 years old) , I'm Granny many times , I like quilting and embroidery , can't seem to master paper piecing, my Mom paper pieced scrap quilts, this allowed very small strips/ sizes of fabric to be used. I liked tearing the paper off for her when the block was done. Sears and wards catalogs was what she used for the paper. I can applique only on the sewing machine, have tremors that doesn't allow for hand sewing anymore.
