Welcome to the board from Southern California.
There are many many hand quilters on here as well as those that like to do hand piecing as well.
I am not one of those, however. I like to use my machine!!!

Welcome from Ontario. I am not a hand quilter yet, but I am working up the courage to become one

Welcome Jade. I only hand quilt. I had to machine quilt once to finish some table runners for Christmas, because my husband was laid off and needed something in a hurry and was short on money. I machine quilted 25 and swore I would never machine quilt again. Just did not enjoy it in the least. I will say I am doing my dog a quilt and I will stitch in the ditch, by machine. But for humans I hand quilt.

There are many wonderful machine quilters on here, just not my cup of tea. Would love to be able to chat and share ideas with another hand quilter, there are quite a few of us on this board.

Forever a hand quilter.

Hi from Southern California. I have been a hand quilter for years, but just got a long arm. I love the look of hand quilting, it's so much softer than machine, but stippling made me a bit loony, so that is why I got the long arm.

I do most of mine by hand once in a while I stitch in the ditch if I am pressed for time. I am getting ready to do a king size with hearts.

Hi Jade Welcome to the Board. I only hand quilt --I know i like the look of it better - but also because my machine won't machine quilt other than straight lines with a walking foot ;-)
Got questions - ask - would be glad to help. Have you been handquilting long ?

beachlady 01-26-2010 04:45 PM

Welcome Jade. I wish I had enough patience to hand quilt - maybe some day.! Post pictures of your quilts! We love pix.

Hi from Missouri.
We all welcome you and would love to exchange ideas and thoughts on quilting. Love the look of hand quilting for the special quilts I do, but some quilts (like for the grandkids beds) don't get this special treatment. Some of my art quilts get a combination of both quilting styles. Just ask a question and we will all reply.

Welcome from Utah. I actually have been hand quilting since I was young but it is getting hard on my wrists so I am learning...slowly ... to machine quilt. Not very good at it yet but I love practicing! You will be able to learn alot here!

I hand quilt almost everything. I've made about 15 quilts now, and have only machine quilted one, for a baby. I love hand quilting, it just brings me peace (or should I say piece?). I love the look and feel of the quilt, and watching the progress on my quilts.

Welcome aboard!

Hello & Welcome :-D

I've done both hand and machine quilting. It just depends on the project. I did a sampler and started hand quilting it on a huge quilting frame that my husband bought me. I hated it. I couldn't manage sewing different directions when I couldn't turn the quilt. Anyway... I ended up taking the quilt out of the big frame and machine quilting the sashing and then putting the quilt in my small quilting frame and hand-quilting the blocks. It turned out great. There are SEW many choices on piecing and quilting that it makes for many decisions as you go. Welcome to the board.

Hello from North Carolina and welcome to the best board ever. I have hand quilted, but because I work full time, I prefer to machine quilt and embroider.

Charlee 01-27-2010 08:22 AM

I've been trying to learn machine quilting, but I LOVE to hand quilt! There's just something relaxing about it! :)

Quilt Mom 01-28-2010 01:15 PM

Greetings!

I am a hand quilter, in general. I have machine quilted a few, in time crunch or required by the type of quilt. Hand work is so relaxing after running a busy schedule all day.

Glad you joined us here. Hope to hear more from you as you become more familiar with the board.

Welcome from Florida! I am a hand quilter. I am making Grandmother's flower garden pattern with 1930s fabric. It is very colorful and coming along, and I must say looks pretty so far.

skowjudy 01-28-2010 05:02 PM

Welcome Jade, I have done both hand and machine. I like the hand quilting, but I am not very good at it yet. Can't seem to find just the right way for me. Don't have enough time to hand quilt all of them, but the special ones I will try to hand quilt.
These people are the best about helping you with things, I found that out my first day.
