I'm a relatively new quilter (18 mos) and totally new to the forum. I'm hoping someone can help me with my Bernina stitch regulator. I've made 8 quilts and quilted them with my BSR and have been very pleased. My last 2 quilts have been an exercise in frustration. Stitching is fine then suddenly machine will skip a couple of stitches - looks like it doesn't pick up the bobbin.
I've changed needles, needle sizes, tension, thread, pressure and problem persists, even on small practice pieces.
I've taken machine to the dealer where I bought it and they can't find a problem. The only thing they can suggest is that I'm not moving the fabric at an even pace, but the fact that this is a new problem makes me think it's not just "operator error."
Has anyone had a similar problem or anything to suggest I try.
Thanks. Betty1

Welcome to the board from Southern California!!!

There was a whole discussion here about the BSR and skipping stitches. Mine does the same thing. Let me see if I can find the link

try this. Apparently it needs a stronger spring and you need to leave your presser foot at the "regular" setting, not at "0"

Thanks, Gayle. I'll check the presser foot setting. I guess i have to take it to the dealer to replace the spring
thanks again for the help

Welcome neighbor! I also have the BSR. It takes practice. Mine has not skipped yet. Maybe it is because I don't use it often. Good luck with yours.

Thanks for the welcome greetings, Melina. I've made 7 or 8 quilts and numerous table toppers, etc., and have loved my BSR. I'm sure you'll enjoy yours, too. I've just recently started having trouble with it. Due to many replies I've received from my inquiry, I'm going to take it to Nancy's (is that where you got your machine?) and ask about the BSR update and a new spring.

Hi Betty1. I bought my sewing machine at A Different Touch in Chesapeake. I'm off next week for Spring Break so I will have plenty of time to play with it. I have a top finished that I want to meander on.
