Hi! I am very new to quilting - I have done one from some basic instructions my daughter gave me from her high school class and my mothers sewing machine! The seams didn't hold up too well - but at least it got me going.

I do really like it - but never can seem to find the time! I feel like I am always on the boards looking around so I thought it was time to post something :)

I have an aunt that has always been very into sewing and crafts. None of her 10 (count them 10 - my goodness!) childreen were very interested so when she got wind of my attempt she got very excited. She got me my first rotary cutter - some fabric (I have been using what ever I can find in the house) and great sisscoiors - just for my fabric of course!

This board is great and I am glad to be a part of it!

Greetings from Northern CA. It's not just about learning to quilt - it is also about learning new life lessons.

House cleaning, cooking, laundry, yard work, etc - really, anything that would classify as "chore" is really NOT that important.

Quilting, shopping for fabric, sorting and petting your stash, playing on the QB, now that IS important.

See - issue with time is miraculously solved.

That is what I keep trying to tell myself!! I am a bit particular about the house cleaning - but don't look in those closets! So my hope is that getting myself interested in something that will keep my mind as well as my hands busy will keep the "crazy" in my head quiet - for a while at least!! :)

I am from just north of Milwaukee - Port Washington.

I spent this morning trying to hand stitch the quilt I mentioned with some bad seams. . . it went ok - can't say it looks great - but my back is killing me! I found the easiest way was to work down on the floor where it was flat. That was after sewing the piece I was working on the the folded piece below it - then sewing to my pants - finally I went to the floor. :)

Clearly I need some practice - but I am determined to actually quilt the first one I did!

I have a Q-snap small frame that I use to hand quilt! It is a square hoop that I can hold and work on. I have the larger floor frame as well, but I like the small one for working in my lap and being comfortable.
