Newbie alert!!
Hi, I'm new to the group, I'm from Lancashire, England.
I have just inhereted a new to me vintage sewing machine and I'm looking for anyone who knows anything about this brand, and any advice on bringing it back to life. Its a 'New Sterling' foot treadle machine, I can't find a single you tube video on how to use it or maintain it. |

Welcome from Ontario, Canada. I might compare yours against a Singer to see if they are similar. Most antique machines can be brought back to life but needles may be a problem.

Welcome to Quilting Board. There is a forum here for vintage and antique machines at https://www.quiltingboard.com/vintag...thusiasts-f22/ You might try posting a picture of your machine there. 'Back in the day' there were a few manufactures and if a company bought so many machines, the company could put any name on that they wanted. Consequently you will see the same machine with several different names on it. Needlebar used to have a great photo gallery that was fun to browse to see many of the machines from various manufacturers. It still is a good resource for some information about antique machines. There were many badged machines and Needlebar compiled a list of lots of them. I found New Sterling was used as badge name for both National and Free. It is possible that it could have been by either or by another company altogether.
Possibly someone could identify which manufacturer of your machine if you post a picture at https://www.quiltingboard.com/vintag...thusiasts-f22/ We like pictures. In order to post pictures on Quilting Board, you will probably need to reduce or compress the picture to a file size that is smaller than 2MB. How to post images can be found at https://www.quiltingboard.com/attach...020-01-17-.pdf Don't forget to scroll over to the far right to find and click on the "Upload" button.
