Hi, I am quite new to quilting but have been sewing for many years. I have 2 computerized SM, one serger and my favorite, a vintage Kenmore cabinet model that I plan to do most of any quilting with. My second grandbaby is on the way and I promised a quilt similar to the Pottery Barn baby boy airplane one. The difficult part is first. Making the appliques. I have had the fabric for some time and did manage to get the applique traced onto some freezer paper right before this trip out of town. Tough part ahead.
Should I use paint on starch around the edges to tun under or just iron on and snip the curves? :? |

Hi! I've just joined here too. What caught my eye on your post was your doing an airplane quilt. I just finished one! It was the first applique quilt I've done in a while. I used wonder-under (I think that is what it is called) and zig-zagged the edges. I really had a good time making this quilt! Hope someone on here who really knows what they are doing will help you out... I will waiting on their responses!
