Newbie from the Frozen Tundra of Illinois
 

Hi there. I'm Teresa G from northern Illinois. New to this forum but not quite new to quilting. I started quilting about 14 years ago when I moved from California to Illinois. Took a few breaks here and there due to life but got back into it more steadily early last year. I joined a BOM from a LQS in Lockport and have been working on a few other BOMs since then.

Almost 2 weeks ago, I challenged a friend of mine to working on the Dear Jane Quilt. I started working on one years ago, but with several house moves, have misplaced my book and the few blocks I had started. My friend accepted the challenge and we both ordered new books and the software. Waiting for both to come so I can have some fun :-) It was through a posting from someone on the Dear Jane mailing list that I found this board.

Years ago, I belonged to a couple different quilting groups on Yahoo, both of which are now defunct :-(

Other things about me - I am in my early 40s (that's hard to say from time to time), have 3 grown kids ages 23, 21, & 18. In addition to quilting, I like to do counted cross stitch, cook, spend time outdoors, dabble in photography, enjoy micro/craft beers (both drinking and brewing) and am an avid Criminal Minds & Star Trek fan.

Welcome from OHIO! This board is great. Very active quilters here and I don't think I've seen a question go unanswered. I have quilted for years, but I've learned lots spending time on here.

Welcome from the SHO-ME state - Missouri. Round Lake sounds familiar - is it around Chicago? If so, I think that I spent the summer there when I was a girl.

Tutt, yup a full life. I like my down time but I generally like to have something to keep me busy (or keep me from falling asleep).

Janet L52 - I know where Shingle Springs is. I grew up about 3 hours away from there on Clear Lake.

NikkiLu - Yes, Round Lake is around Chicago, actually north of Chicago, close to the Wisconsin border, right on the Chain of Lakes.

DogHouseMom - I absolutely love the ladies in the Lockport store. Used to have a great store closer to home but they sold, then moved to a new location and just have not kept the store up to par :-( Lockport is always helpful and friendly.

Hi there Ditzyprints. Which burb are you in? I live in Round Lake, work in Vernon Hills & West Chicago, and spend a lot of time in Lockport :-)

I have never been to Lockport but if there is a good quilt shop I will make the trip when I am nearby. I prefer not to share my locale...I am new to quilting and to online chatting. Glad you posted. I have looked at posts to this board the last month but haven't posted until tonight. Your IL intro showed as the top one on the main page and it caught my eye. Wishing you the best with your quilt projects!

Hi -- my sister used to live on Round Lake and my nephew and niece still live there. I think there's a lake that joins to Round Lake, that's where they live. Maybe you know them!! Welcome to the forum!
