Newbie here from Massachusetts

Hello,

My name is Jeanne and I'm from Mass. I stumbled into this website from my favorite place......Pinterest! I am not new to sewing but fairly new to quilting. I have had my eye on a few quilts I want to try but my most favorite is the Bargello! I am excited and a bit anxious because the first time I saw it I thought no way am I going to be able to do this because it looked so difficult but once I saw how easy it was (Thank you YouTube! My teaching classroom and second favorite place!) I am dying to get started! I also want to do the Irish Chain. That is going to be next on my list. I love how simple it looks.
My mom tried to teach me to sew when I was in my early teens. It didn't take lol!! Then years later, she asked me to take a ride to the fabric store and that's where it began! I am a pack rat of fabric, patterns, notions, gadgets, thread..........I'm sure I'm not alone here! I'm usually into a few different things at once. I then find I get bored and have to find something new to get back into.
I'm an animal lover and currently have a Golden Retriever and 3 kitties. The loves of my life. They keep me sane.....sometimes! I work crazy hours and sometimes don't have the time to really get into a project so it sits for a while but this Bargello is something I really want to make so we'll see! I am curious by nature and sometimes to a fault....lol! but if something really interests me then I'm usually full of questions.....just saying! So that's it in a nutshell.

Welcome from OR. Love the ocean breezed. I once visited your state and spent some time in Boston and Marblehead.

Hi! Thank you for the welcome! I hope you enjoyed yourself when you were here?! It's a great city. Marblehead is beautiful. Quiet, quaint and sits right along the water. The houses are big and it's somewhat of a wealthy community but the views are breathtaking. It's a great day trip out of the city. Your beaches are gorgeous from the photos I've seen. They are huge! I love it when the tide goes out here but ours look like inlets compared to yours!

Welcome Jeanne from your neighbor in New Hampshire. I am like you as a pack-rat of fabric and patterns. I'm glad you found us here.

Hello and welcome from the left coast, Seattle area!

I'm currently staying at my mom's taking care of her after back surgery and her golden retriever. They are such nice dogs.

Among projects I am planning to do in the next year or so is my first Bargello after some 40 years of quilting. I have a great large sea type print for the back (I love my wild backs) and will pick colors out of it for the front. Am also thinking of an idea for a "DNA" quilt made bargello style to get that double helix look, think that is beyond my powers at the current time but it is an interesting thought exercise.

Welcome from Vermont

Hi!
Glad to know that I have someone close by! You live in my favorite place (next to Ireland!). I am a New Hampshire girl for sure and when I retire.......... which I hope will be sooner rather than later, I'm moving over the border to the N Conway area (that's the plan anyway). I live in the city right now and my travel time to work is about 10 mins. That's the only reason I'm still here....lol! I lived in Litchfield for 5 years before having to move back to Mass. I spent summer vacations on Sunapee and cannot wait to get back up there permanently! Thanks for the Welcome!

Thank you to everyone for the Welcome!! I'm looking forward to the warmer weather and to starting my first Bargello!

Howdy from Texas. Sounds like you've got your feet wet & are ready to dive in to that Bargello quilt. There have been a lot of pretty ones posted here on the boards & just ask away if you have any questions because this board is full of help & encouragement. I think you will like it here.

Welcome London, Greetings from the Sunshine State,

I too learned to sew/quilt from my mom. But, it took, lol, only because I was a mature adult when I learned. Pretty sure I didn't have the patience to learn when I was younger. Glad the fabric bug brought you full circle. Can't wait to see your Bargello. It too is on my short list of bucket list quilts to make.

Hi Jeanne, and welcome from WA state! Here's an idea for you- Have you looked on Bonnie Hunter's site www.quiltville.blogspot.com ? She has lots of free patterns, and there is a Scrappy Bargello, and a Scrappy Trips. Maybe you could "get your feet wet" and see how you like the bargello type process? Happy stitching!
