Hi,
Your story sounds much like mine. I made a couple of quilts by hand about 40 years ago and am just getting back to quilting again. I am learning the free motion quilting by watching videos and then making sandwiches of scraps and batting to practice on. One of those things you just have to jump in there and do and then learn as you go...kind of like learning to ride a bike! Enjoy!

Welcome from East Tennessee, and you will love this board. I always look forward to coming here. Everyone is so nice, and very helpful, and very talented. I have learned so much here, and I have a lot to learn. I look forward to learning all I can here, and they give so many nice links.

Welcome from Delaware. I haven't done much machine quilting yet, but really got turned on by a site someone here gave a link to - it was a bunch of video tutorials of free machine quilting patterns by Leah Day. You might want to check it out via search here or google it. It was terrific.

Welcome. I have learned more from this board in the 6 months than any other resource available to me. This is saying a huge kudo from me since I do not like searching and studying and any other learning process except "here's what you need to do and here's how you do it." AND here's a double handle full of experienced quilters ready and willing to, freely, give their wonderful, life's experiences in quilting and sewing. What more could a novice need. Personally, I am still needy!!!

Welcome to the board, I hope you realize that once you have been star struck at a quilt show, there is no known cure. (Not that we have looked for anyway)

Welcome from Minnesota. You can get a lot of info from this Board, and if you want hands on, take a beginners class at your local quilt shop. Enjoy.

Hello and a big, warm welcome from southeastern West Virginia. I have been a hand-quilter for 30 years plus but know I won't get everything done I want to in this one lifetime. I used to be a machine-quilting snob but no more. Check out Leah Day on youtube or her website/blog...freemotionquiltingproject.com.....every day a new design...great for beginners and experts alike. Her youtube offerings include how to get started machine quilting. She's made a believer out of me. I've purchased several things from her website DayStyleDesigns as well. Hope this helps.
