I second that recommendation! It's the book I'm learning to quilt from (as well as this forum and my local Quilt Guild) and I'm finding it to be an excellent resource.

Welcome to the forum!

Hello and Welcome!!! :D :D :D

If you want to learn paper piecing Carol Doak is a wonderful choice!!!
Also, check out the Tutorial Section here on the board, there is a 4 part that ShellyQ put together that is geared at beginners, as well as other wonderful tutorials and most have really nice illustrations, too!!!

The block of the month (BOM) section here is another way to get your feet wet on different blocks, techniques, too. You can do one, every other one, or them all!! If you have questions on them, just post a question there or in the Main section on the older ones...

Remember too, that you can ask any question here about anything, someone will have an answer for you

Welcome from another Pennsylvanian. Along with your books, ask questions here. Someone always has an answer or suggestion to help you learn to quilt better.

Welcome from Alaska! Try putting a piece of carpet under your machine to help with the bounce and shakes. I really recommend Eleanor Burns for beginner quilters. Her books are wonderful. P.M. me if you have trouble finding some, I might be able to help you!

Welcome from Texas!

There is a great video on youtube on how to make an inexpensive quilt table. I'm just waiting to rearrange my sewing room to make one myself!

Good luck and let us see your work. The gang here is awesome, and will be happy to answer any questions you might have.

Hi and welcome from another Kansan.
I taught myself to quilt by making the different blocks.
I have quite a few patterns I would be glad to send too you if you would like.
