Newbie from Texas who is VERY new to quilting
Hi everyone! I'm a new member to the quilting board and also a VERY newbie quilter. So far my finished quilted projects have all been small like table runners and Christmas stockings. I still haven't gotten the hang of free motion quilting but I'm still practicing. I love paper piecing but regular quilt piecing scares me to death. But I'm looking forward to being here and getting great tips from more experienced quilters.

Hello tricia! I'm very new to quilting as well. Is your avatar a picture of what you quilted? It is a very pretty piece!

Welcome from SC Texas. So happy you joined us. This is such a good place to learn and there is always someone here that can help you. Don't be afraid, we have all been there and the best way to learn is buy some cheap fabric and jump right in. If you mess up just keep at it until you learn then use some nice fabric and do your quilt.

Hummingbird, yes it's a project I'm working on now. It will be a pillow when I'm finished. All of the blocks are paper pieced.
|
Hi Tricia.... I was on your blog and saw it. I think it is adorable and the pillow is bigger than I thought!

Welcome to Tricia and Hummingbird from Washington State. Don't be afraid to try new things. Buy some inexpensive fabric and just go for it. If you don't like what you've done, see if your local animal shelter accepts blankets for the animals. If you haven't spent a lot of money, it's much easier to take chances. The worst that will happen is that you won't like what you've done. What will happen for sure, is that you will learn something. Be bold!! Have fun!!!

Welcome, welcome, fellow Texan!!! This site is soooo awesome! I spend way too much time here.
I now do all my blocks PP. It takes practice, practice but you'll get there. I tend to even look at traditional patterns & think "I could do this PP" so I draw up a pattern... |
Welcome, you'll have lots of help here. :)

Hello Tricia.
Welcome from Minnesota! :) |
Hi, Tricia, I grew up in Tyler! At least one nice quilt there when I last visited! Welcome to the board. It's a great place for inspiration.
|
Thanks to everyone for the nice welcome! I'm looking forward to getting involved here.
|
Welcome from Clovis, CA. You and I seem to have different thoughts on piecing. Paper piecing scares me but winging it on any other quilt piecing I can be fearless about.
|
Tricia, Welcome from Texarkana, AR. I am also new to the board. Happy Quilting!
|
Welcome from Florida (originally from Louisiana). Don't be scared of any of it! Piecing is awesome! And if you don't like it, a ripper fixes everything! I was a brand newbie a year and a half ago - jumped in head first. Nobody told me I should start with beginner quilts! If I liked it, I did it - with a LOT of encouragement and advice from this board. Use it well, the talent and resources here are the best there are anywhere!

Welcome from Delaware, and looking at your avatar I need to check out this paper piecing stuff!
