Hi--I'm new to the group and a beginning quilter. I'm learning by trial and error and have done my share of removing stitches. Love fabric stores and call it my eye candy. Always looking for a good quality bargain and stash shows it. Also love to read and do a little gardening.

Hi, Carrie! Welcome! This is my favorite site, and I'm sure it will be your new fave, too.
I think we have a little bit of everything here. We're a group of quilters, but you can get advice for ANYTHING! :D
I like to garden, as well, but this is the first year we didn't put a out a garden! I still have some things growing on the porch in pots, though.

annmarie 07-20-2007 07:22 PM

Hi Carrie - welcome - qulting, gardening, & reading are 3 of my favorite things too. What are you reading?

Cathe 07-20-2007 07:57 PM

I'm new here, too, but welcome!

Carrie 07-22-2007 04:49 AM

Hi Vicki--I've been reading different postings and find the topics and answers great. That is what prompted me to join. This group is a first for me. I'll be sure to watch out for Patrice!

Carrie 07-22-2007 04:55 AM

Hi Cathe--And a big welcome to you. Are you a new beginner quilter like me? My very first quilt was a mini wallhanging of The Old Man of the Mountain [I'm from NH] with MANY SMALL pieces. I'm looking forward to learning from this group.

Carrie 07-22-2007 05:06 AM

Hi AnnMarie--I'm not reading anything at the moment but just finished " A Year in the Maine Woods" by Bernd Heinrich. My reading is eclectic with personal stories a favorite, some history and more than my share of mysteries. What do you like to read?

Carrie 07-22-2007 05:23 AM

Hi Miranda--Thanks for the welcome. I'm what I believe is a New beginner. I did a 6 week beginner class but felt intimadated as I had NEVER quilted and everyone else had taken several classes and HAD several different machines. When I got home I told my hubby I was sorely lacking in equipment! So, I've been trying to learn on my own thru trial and error. My gardening is limited to flowers now although in the past we did vegetables.

Hi--Thanks for the welcome. I'm a new beginner and haven't done too many quilts. Most have been small wall hangings and I do have pictures. Will need to figure out how to post them. I'm looking forward to being a part of the group and hope I can add to the helpful advice.

Hi Sandra--Thank you for the welcome. I'm looking forward to being a part of the group and hopefully being able to add to it.

Hi and welcome Carrie! I know you are going to love it here. Everyone is full of helpful advice. I love gardening too. We are finally almost finished moving, which means, I get to start planning my patio with my lovely flower gardens for the spring. Oh, I can't wait. Well, really I shouldn't say planning, as it is already planned in my head. LOL! I seldom find time to read anymore, but oh how I used to love getting swept away in books.

Hi Celeste--The Old Man in the Mountain is by Teresa Drummond and I purchased it at Keepsake Qulting in Center Harbor, NH. It is a four season wall hanging but I did just one panel of it.

Gorgeous - looks just like profile Mountain.Used to go camping near there in Franconia Notch. I miss mountains.

Celeste 10-18-2007 06:01 PM

That's really nice! I especially like the fabrics you chose. Now he's immortalized on a mountain, coin and quilt! Though I believe I heard he's no longer on the mountain? I was so sad to hear that!

Welcome Carrie! You'll find that your seam ripper is your best friend, it gives you the opportunity to try again. Old or new quilters never run out of seam rippers! lol lol

Patrice has a bark worse than a bite. Just say "yes ma'am" and "no ma'am" She likes that kind of thing. (Vicki she's gonna kill us both)

Happy Quilting, Carrie,
Sharon

Hi Carrie and welcome,

I am a newcomer to the group as well. :) Everyone is so friendly...looking forward to getting to know you. :)

blahel 10-21-2007 06:52 PM

HI Carrie,
i too am new to the board and quilting. you have joined a good site as you learn so much just by reading everyones comments. i have only finished one small wallhanging and am doing a second. There are so many things i want to do so i am going to stick to small wallhangings as they take me so long to make so would hate to make a full size quilt as that might never get finished.
i also like gardening and reading just like you do but am passionate about quilting. Your wallhanging was beautiful so hope you keep on quilting!!

Shadow Dancer 10-21-2007 07:15 PM

Hi Carrie, welcome to the group again. :)

Just jump right in, this is the greatest group! :) I'm in Canada and the last few nights I have spent hours reading all the posts, lost track of time last night and before I knew it, it was 3am.. yikes!! lol :D

Hello from Louisiana! My name is Maggie and I have been quilting for about 5 years. But, I have been sewing since I was 4. Made my first quilt (a queen size rail fence pattern) after I took a trip to Arkansas. Now I am hooked.

annmarie 10-25-2007 08:16 PM

Welcome Maggie. You have come to the right place. We would love to see pictures of your quilts. They can be posted in the Pictures section - directions are in the first thread there.
