Hi everyone. I am newish to quilting. I have been making simple 9 block baby quilts for about a year (I hand tied them all since I was afraid to machine quilt. I have recently started branching out to other projects. Whenever I ask my mother for advice she sends me to this board, so I decided to join myself.
I just finished my first "real" quilt and even did some machine quilting on it. It was the quick jelly roll style. (although i cut strips instead of using a jelly roll) Her birthday party is this weekend, so I will be giving it to her then. (I will attach a picture)
I live in southern California, just north of LA.

hopefully the link works, I have seen several directions but the one here on the message boards is a great tutorial.

the strips are 2.5 inches and you need 40 of them. With borders it ends up being a little wider than a twin blanket. I used my scraps for the binding by cutting them into 6.5 inch strips and sewed them end to end until I had enough for the perimeter of the quilt. I thought this kept the randomness of the pattern.
