I started out quite a few years ago doing one quilt at a time. But the more I've been on this site the more I have started. I see so many things I want to make and I have probably five I'm actively working on and several in the collection mode( I call it that when I'm gathering fabric for them). And several completed but they need quilting. So yes I'd say your very normal. My new year resolution has been to get some of them completed before starting another and I've already blown that. Now, I understand why you'll see a whole bunch of blocks at Good Will that no one made into a quilt, I never could understand that before.

You are not breaking any rules and sound pretty normal to me! Welcome from Alaska.

bamamama 03-18-2011 06:38 PM

I have 2 with fabric stacked up ready to cut, 1 that I'm piecing, 1 that I'm in the process of stitching the applique down on and 1 ready for the Long Arm.

Sounds like pretty normal behavior to me!

Hello from northeast Georgia. You are just like the rest of us!
As for thread, just don't buy any 4 spools for $1.

[quote=TamaraAW]I am fairly new to quilting, but I find it hard to finish a project without starting a new one. I finish about one quilt a year, but have fabric, some cut and ready, some partially sewn, a couple close to finishing. Is it common to have several projects in the closet, and switch back and forth?

I am fairly new to quilting myself, but I giggled when I read your question. I am working on 2 quilts at the same time right now. Last week it was 3. And I'm planning/thinking about my next 2 projects.

Welcome to the board from Ohio!

Another welcome from SW Iowa ----and I think "normal" is a setting on a washing machine......

QuiltinPaws 03-18-2011 08:31 PM

What is "normal"? I think I am normal, but others disagree with me.

I'm the same way...want to make almost all the new quilts I see but have more of a problem because I want to buy all the new fabric that comes out!
Although I've been quilting for 6 years I still consider myself a novice in many ways.
Welcome aboard and it might help if you set a goal for a project..some good friend you want to surprise or family member you want to gift a quilt or table runner or wall hanging to. If it helps, make a list and post it in your sewing area.

I have only made one complete quilt (Jan. of this year), but I am working on cutting out pieces for 4 with 4 more in the planning stage. I also have some other sewing projects that I am working on for our local Relay for Life fund raiser.
