It'll soon be 4 years since I joined this great forum. I love checking out "Introduce Yourself" posts but many times don't have time to respond. I often look up locations of towns I don't know, wondering where they are. I'm from Duluth and am wondering who on the board is located within about a 100-mile radius of me.

Hi Ginny!
I'm from Inver Grove Heights, MN.
It is about 10 minutes from downtown St. Paul.
It's so fun to see all the people on the board...and where they are from! :)

Edie 10-18-2011 03:04 AM

Good Morning Ginny: I am from St. Paul, just a hop, skip and jump from Duluth - like three hours or so! We love the area up there. Have taken the Lake Shore trip up to Grand Marais many a-time! My husband carved our initials on the lighthouse on the pier not too far from the Lift Bridge! Do they still have the Hardee's up there. They had the BEST Hardee Huskee's. Our Hardee's down here doesn't even know what I am talking about, but that was probably about 40 years ago too.

On my way to show and tell at the local coffee shop "Espresso Royale" not far from me to meet my sister and we show each other what we have worked on since we have seen each other. I got a quilt put together so that will be strewn all over the floor there. She is from Danbury, Wisconsin and she does a lot of hand quilting - beautiful work too - and she shows me what she has done.

Enjoy your time here at the Quilting Board. It is great! Edie

I believe this Board started in Delaware by Konstantine. Then in New York and has now been bought by a California person or group.
IMHO, this is what I remember.

Did I misinterpet your question?

Hi!
I'm from the Brainerd Lakes area. It's about a 2 hour drive for us to come to Duluth. It's a great place to visit! Did you see the King and Queen of Norway when they were there?

sharyl 10-18-2011 06:24 AM

Hi! I'm from Hermantown, MN. I'm new to this area also. Just moved here last July. My husband & I are retired. I love to quilt and am interested in finding a quilt guild in this area so I can meet some gals I have something in common with. I also like gardening - especially flowers, reading, & just trying to be creative. Maybe we could meet sometime????

Well, I don't live in Duluth anymore, but lived there from 1966 through 2009. Is it snowing yet? Almost time for the anniversary of the great Halloween blizzard.

PuffinGin 10-21-2011 05:14 AM

Thank you all for the warm greetings. Great to hear from near Duluth or Northern MN, others from all over Minnesotam those who have lived here and moved way, have relatives and friends here and are from other parts of the country. Sharyl, welcome to the area. I'd enjoy meeting you and Kuusistoquilter from Duluth sometime. I'm going to try to squeeze in a couple hours this afternoon at the Quilting on the Waterfront show that's down at The Inn on Lake Superior in Canal Park. I'm helping with set up for my church's bazaar this morning then have an appointment at 1 p.m. but hope to get there around 2 p.m. It started yesterday and continues today and tomorrow from 9-5 p.m. Have you or are you going? Will be 70+ quilts on display including an antique quilt collection (which I love) and vendors to tempt us to open our purses in moments of weakness.
