Hello from Maxville, Ontario, Canada!

I'm new to a lot of things right now, living in the country, homesteading, and quilting! I've always sewed, but just got into quilting since we moved out to our 6-acre homestead last autumn. I just recently joined my local quilting guild and all the ladies there are so wonderful!

I'm kind of obsessed with quilting right now, so I went looking for other folks to talk to and learn from, and I found this board. I'm looking foreward to seeing all your beautiful work and learning new things!

Thanks! I'm currently sewing the binding on my first big project (it's not actually very big, it's a small throw-sized quilt) and I need to get it done by Saturday to give it to some friends who are getting married. I will be sure to get a picture that I can post before I gift it!

Wow! People still homestead? And there?? I would have said all the land was already settled and bought up.

Welcome from BC. Glad to hear you're living the dream.

Can you see me waving from Connecticut? My grandpa's homestead in South Dakota is still in the family. We need lots of those farms to feed us in the US and Canada. Keep up the great work!

Welcome to the board. Just love Canada. Have spent a significant amount of time in your country and have enjoyed it immensely.

A warm welcome from another Canadian! We live in a boarder city in Ontario (Sault Ste. Marie, to be exact) This is a fantastic board; learn something new every day.

Hello Jan,

Welcome from Kansas. You will find lots of tips and more here. I too recently joined a quilt guild in my area. There is so much talent in this world. Have you been to any quilt shows? That is a good place to visit, share, see the all the talent everyone has.

Hi Cindy! (My sister's name is Cindy)

I haven't been to any quilt shows yet, except for one "Trunk Show" when a guest speaker came to our quilting guild. I live five miles from a little village in a rural area, so we have a number of local Agricutural Fairs that have quilts on display in the "Homecraft" section / competition. Those will probably be the first "shows" I go to this summer :)

I will try to get to one of the big quilt shows in my area (and there are lots in southern Ontario, I'm lucky) in the fall.

Thanks!
Jan
