Picking up after long hiatus

Aloha from Conway, South Carolina!

So thrilled to have found this board! I'm returning to quilting after 25+ year hiatus. Life takes turns, you know. I was never very prolific - a few wall hangings and only 1 full sized quilt. I learned to quilt in Amish/Mennonite country, where almost everything was hand quilted, and now I discover the trend is towards machine quilting. Are any of you hand quilting?

I am really looking forward to meeting you all & using this forum!

Welcome from Southern California. I do both hand quilting and machine quilting - it just depends on how the quilt talks to me. This board is so great for all kinds of help.

Well it's about time you got back to it! :p LOL! Welcome from another hand quilter in Northern Indiana! I learned to hand quilt (not piece) from Grandma but have also done a few small machine quilted items as well. This is a great site and everyone is so friendly!

Hello from Greenwood, SC! I enjoy hand quilting and appliqué but time wise typically machine everything.

Thanks to all for your warm welcomes! I've learned a few things in the brief time I've gone back to quilting:
1. I still LOVE quilting - from planning, cutting, piecing, quilting and on to finish
2. I remember how to quilt! and my stitches are really ok! (I thought they'd be 1/2" long or more)
3. I 've learned how to use a thimble, something I never did before
4. Nice callouses develop if you give them a chance, and
5. Blood in my fingers still bleeds red! LOL

Thanks again, ladies and gents!
