I joined on the 1st after lurking for a few weeks...just did not have time to set up a profile. (Thank you for all the welcomes!)
Finally figured out today how to add a photo. This was a square I made for another quilter in the group I belong to so I no longer have it. I have since been collecting silk pieces for a silk crazy quilt. I used to get a lot of designer upholstery samples where I work and think I have enough for a comfortably-sized lap quilt. Wish me luck! |
Hi Linda, Welcome! Glad you figured out how to upload photos b/c we love them! :D

Welcome from Michigan...your avatar/profile pic is beautiful.

Beautiful! I have been collecting velvets to make a tablecloth I saw a long time ago. It was a crazy quilt but I know I am going to run into all kinds of issues so haven't begun yet.

Hello and welcome from Germany!

I love your avatar square that you made from silk. I would love to have a silk crazy quilt, but wouldn't silk be a hard fabric to work with?

Lovely profile.

I don't think it was too difficult. However the cotton drapery fabric I am quilting now IS difficult. I have actually broken 3 needles quilting this one.
I think it depends on the tightness of the weave and the thickness of the individual threads of the fabric. Silk can be very light and pliable. Most of the samples I have are from India and are light-weight. Also, they are solids or stripes without any embroidery or over-weaves. I'll let you know! |
