I'm a farm wife who started sewing about age 7. I learned how to make clothes, and then went on to doing all sorts of crafts from needlework, to making soaps, candles and anything I could learn to do. I always wanted to quilt and took my first class in 2004, if I remember correctly. I love to quilt and have donated most of my tops to charity, soliders, and whoever asked for them for charities. I am still making a lot of the charity things but want to do somethings for myself and 7 almost 8 grandchildren. I really enjoy seeing all the pictures everyone posts. I have sewing machines, sergers, embroidery machines and one midarm (which I hope to learn how to use):hunf:. Any suggestions you can give me on learning how to quilt would be great. Do any of you free motion on your sewing machines? I tried it and can't get it. Hear Bernina has a machine that can do free motion but don't know much about them. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks so much for any help. Keep up all the great work you all do.

Welcome. I am new to this site also. Only joined 2011 in the late summer. I, like you, have sewn since childhood and often believe that I can sew anything. But when I need help, inspiration or just want to see what people are doing, I come here. There are lots of tutorials for various blocks/methods. I am learning to make Crazy Quilts which I have loved at first site. I put "crazy in the search box and it took me to all kinds of things to look at and try.

Hello there & Welcome to the Quilting Board from the state of Washington.
:D :D :D :D |
Welcome and Leah Day has one of the best sites for FMQ on your domestic machines. She also just started a weekly tutorial as well. There are alot of companies that have great machines for FMQ. I have a Viking and then there is Janome and the list goes on. The trick is to find one you like for yourself.
