I figured out what I did wrong on the quilt I was trying to make hourglass pattern out of and ended up with pinwheels. I couldnt figure out how to make the square and now I see I just sewed the wrong sides together. I feel like a dufus for asking the board how to do it now! My question is: is there anyone here from Scotland?

Welcome from NC. Being new is where we all were once, ocasionally it returns (when we try something new), but it's all good. Yes there are several people from Scotland here...look around, you will find them and much, much more. Enjoy.

Hello and welcome from Michigan! Don't worry, it's not just new quilters who make those kind of mistakes. I've been quilting for more years than I like to admit and still do the silliest things sometimes. One day I sewed pieces for 20 minutes without thread in the machine. duhhh!!!!
