Rank Amateur Quilter
I am a rank amateur! I've done one quilt top, a design inspired by the university my niece-in-law attended. You ladies and gentlemen have my admiration for the beautiful quilts you have created. Once I become better acquainted, I may post some pictures. I have also done a baby quilt in Sunbonnet Sue, which I hand quilted. Since I am still working full time, my time is somewhat limited. Then, there's the Ham Radio Club (of which I am president this year) and my volunteer work with the Sheriff's Division of Emergency Management here in Marion County, Florida. I am pretty sure I'd rather be making quilts, despite my inexperience!
Thank you for all your inspiration! Jeanette Frantz |

Helen,
You asked for it! It's really a coincidence -- my first name is also Helen, named after my grandmother (we lived very close together and it was confusing when somone called "Helen", so my parents always called me by my middle name, and I've been Jeanette for 66+ years! The history behind my one large quilt: My nephew (adopted in 1985) was getting married in March 2010. His bride, Sarah, graduated from the University of Arkansas and was a monumental Arkansas Razorback fan. I came up with the bright idea to make them a quilt for a wedding gift. So, I went on the U of A website and printed a copy of the Arkansas Razorback (about 3" X6"). I enlarged on the copy machine, re-drew and enlarged some more. If I can figure out how, I'll attach some pictures. Obviously, I know that tthe quilt could be improved upon, but they were sure happy with it! I guess you can tell I'm not doing real well with attaching pictures. To get back to the quilt, I also made and embroidered matching pillow shams. One thing I quickly learned, red will fade and bleed onto white. But I solved that problem with Rit's dye-setter (had to order it direct from Rit -- the shipping cost more than the solution)! I was glad to pay it! |

Hi Jeanette, Welcome to the QB!! I'm waving a warm Hello to you from Paducah, KY. No matter how much time you have to quilt or how small the project, I hope you'll continue to enjoy creating with fabric. Some of the simplest designs make very pretty quilts. (I tend to quilt simply, as I'm also a beginner quilter. I do try out new techniques in mini quilts.) I hope you enjoy the time you spend here. You'll also find no end of info and help here. Or, at least I have. lol :) Welcome!!

I love the originality of your quilt. And very pretty quilting. But the best praise for your work is the recipient loved it. :)
