Check prices of tools before you buy even with coupons! I found a mat in Hobby Lobby, same mat was in Hancocks for $5 more. Bought it at HL with my coupon! HL also has great remnants in a bin near the fabrics! :lol:

Thank you for the welcome! I'm in Carol Stream, IL about 30 miles west of Chicago.
I was able to print out coupons for Hobby Lobby and Joanns. I did use a coupon at Joanns (40% off) for a pair of sissors. I did check prices at Wal-mart to Joann's and it looks like walmart is going to be cheaper even with the coupon. But I got a killer deal at walmart. A Dritz 60mm rotary cutter was in clearance without a package. So the lady gave it to me for $2.00 and I got an additional blade for $2.50. I also bought a little fabric (at Joann's) teehee. Tis time to restart my stash!

You said that you need a new sewing machine! I do have a suggestion. Have you been to Target? I recently bought a sewing machine from Target for less than $150. The brand name is a "Shark Euro-ProX" .

I bought it to take to quilting classes with me! In addition, it comes with a walking foot and a 1/4 inch foot...and the feed dogs drop down. so I did not need to buy anything else except thread and fabric in order to quilt!!

I hope this gives you an idea for a potential purchase!

I am going to look into that, myself! I hate carrying my good heavy machine to class!

A previous post told you to stay away from the new Singers. I would be
interested to hear the reasons. I just got a new Singer 7470 for my
birthday in December and I love it. My 3 main features I was looking for were ability to drop feed dogs, needle up down and needle threader. This machine has all of the above plus tons of stitches and it's very easy to use and does a great job. Better yet it was $399, a fraction of the cost for
Vikings or some of the other high end machines. Granted Vikings are
great and I wouldn't turn one down, but I don't have thousands to spend
on a sewing machine. So, any way, hope you find something you like,
but don't rule out Singers just because they are made in the USA (a plus in my opinion) and are reasonably priced.

I haven't even thought of looking in Target for a machine. I did see a singer at walmart for $99. It had an automatic threader and drop down feeddogs. I was just thinking I might get a less expensive machine for now. I will get my better one in six months or so. There's a Super Target down the road and a Super Wal-mart about 15-20 mins away. I will look around this weekend.
