I've been a viewer of the board in the past and now so happy to be reunited with many of you. I've learned so much about quilting techniques or tricks from this board. I'm almost 80 years now and have been enjoying quilting for about 40 years - ever the learner. I am currently working on my 4th or 5th Bonnie Hunter Mystery quilt and enjoy reading/seeing all the variations and progress. My color choices may have caused a loss of the design being so evident, but the process is always a joyful learning experience.

Welcome back Granny12. I'm happy that you are on the boards and saw your comment in the Bonnie Hunter thread, glad to have you join us there as well.

Was showing the hubby some of the color choices and projects in various stages of completion. He was surprised at how different they looked -- which is one of my favorite things about the Mysteries and in quilting in general. Here we all are, doing the "same" thing but each of us has our techniques and color sense and style. I'm really inspired by the quilters here even if it is things I don't do, the energy is contagious :)

Glad you're back! Can you tell us some of the best quilting things you've learned over the years? TIA!

Sally, Many of the things I've learned are from Bonnie Hunter's mystery quilts.....how to measure for borders correctly so as not to have ruffled borders....getting those points more precise and how to use the various tools. While making this years mystery quilt I was so very thankful to one of you who suggested cutting the wing units for clue #6 a bit longer so that they came together perfect! I'm not an expert quilter and still struggle with choosing colors, knowing how their value will work together in the end result. This is such a wonderful group of talented quilters who share their wisdom so willingly.

Welcome back, granny12 ! I have been quilting for around 25 years now, having gotten interested in it by watching "Simply Quilts" with Alex Anderson. The Quilting Board has been like that introduction, full of friendly people with clever hints and encouragement.
