I am new to quilting in this past year. However I have now taken on a huge project. My son is an Officer in theNavy and is
heading out for his first cruise the end of May. The Navy Mom's have a project where they make pillowcases for the men and women of the arm forces so they have a touch of home when they get into their bunks. I have just purchased all the fabric I think I will need and getting my daughter and daughter in law over to help cut out while I sew. We will have an assembly line going. I have got some great fabrics to help the men and women that someone back home appreciates their service. I hope I can meet this challenge. I live in Des Plaines IL and have my bedroom also set up as a sewing room. Wish me luck everyone. And I really enjoy everyone's posts. |

I just found out that there will be 500 men and women from the Navy and the Marines on the USS New Orleans. So if anyone would like to help me make the pillowcases I would really appreciate the help. If you need material I have alot of navy material and would not have a problem sending you some. The program is called Heads at Ease. Patriotic materials are the best. Make sure you wash the material so it is soft for their heads. The size of the pillowcase needs to be 22X30 when complete. If you can help please email me back at [email protected]. I am going to attach the directions below. Thanks again to anyone who can help me with this. I would like to get them sent out by the end of June. [email protected]

Happy Mother's Day, Sally Jo... we haven't met, but I'm a fellow Navy Mom from Illinois, and I'm also the Midwest Liaison for Heads at Ease. I was thrilled to see you join our Heads at Ease crew, and so glad to see that you have been able to introduce and share our wonderful military support project with another forum!
Sue (the Pillowcase Lady), along with our other fellow HAE crew members are always so glad to see others take interest in supporting our military men and women serving. I believe you are in northern Illinois, and I am in Southern Illinois. I am happy to provide any additional information, or pickup pillowcases for any one who would like to help support our project. Hope you were able to hear from your Sailor today! |
welcome, waving from Indiana, USA
