Hello and Welcome :D:D:D
Hey bebe!!! Where is it that you live again?:D:D:D |
Welcome From Washington
|
Welcome from Southern California!
|
Welcome to all! I live within the metropolitan area but not in San Antonio. You might say that my town is located between San Antonio and New Braunfels. I believe that the city limits signs for Schertz and New Braunfels are back to back.
Yes, Bebe, I'm still around. |
Hi and welcome from TN.
|
Hello and welcome from an Iowa girl!
|
Hi- And Welcome for Oklahoma. We have cuzs in Universial
City. |
What a coincidence. You have cousins in Universal City, which is our sister city to the west, and I have cousins in Oklahoma. In fact, I'm a transplanted Okie. Since that happened in 1962, I usually say that I'm a Texan. Whereabouts are you located in Oklahoma? I still have 5 first cousins living in Guthrie and a brother in Oklahoma City.
|
Betty Ruth- am located about 50 miles southeast of O.K.C.
About 4 miles north of Seminole, but they gave us an Earlsboro adress.Where we live is on the edge of nowhere. I am a tranplant, but I'm an Okie through and through! Had 2 kids born in Oklahoma. |
I thought this was not just the edge of nowhere, but I thought it WAS nowhere when we first came down here. The area has grown since then until there wouldn't be an acre of land vacant between here and San Antonio if it were not for a few acres that the government bought at the end of the runway at Randolph AF Base and cleared all the houses off for safety. Our oldest was just 2 when we arrived here and our daughter was born here. She says she stays lonesome for Texas and hungry for good TexMex food.
|
This is nowhere, there's a long ways between fabric
shops. Don't drive much anymore and DH works,so I get to guilds once a month, thanks to him. There are more quilters around here than a person realizes. |
Welcome from Missouri!
|
Your statement about getting to guild once a month when your husband takes you reminds me of my mother. Way back then it was called a quilting club, or usually just "club". Since Mom didn't drive, she depended on Dad to come in from the field to take her to club, or one of the other ladies would pick her up.She ordered her quilting supplies from Sears and Roebuck or Montgomery Wards.
|
Montgomery Ward, I haven't heard of that store in many years!
As for Texas, I have a non-quilting friend who lives in Castroville, which is near San Antonio from what she tells me. I love doing the Riverwalk and Alamo in San Antonio. |
I've been here 47 years and have been to the riverwalk and to the Alamo each once. Each time it was because an out of town visitor wanted to see them.
|
I use to use M.Wards and Sears years ago,there I go,telling
my age again.Used to get fabric from them, too. Didn't realize it was that long ago.Guess I am getting old! Marilyn in Oklahoma |
After I was on my own, I would order from another mail-order house. I believe it was Aldens. When I married, my husband insisted that I pay them off and cut up my card. That was over 50 years ago. Now, who's telling their age?
|
You don't tell your age that way! LOL I remember Aldens
haven't heard of them for years. The young'ns tday don't know what it was like. Marilyn( The Crazy Oakie!) |
Welcome from Oklahoma. Hope you find some folks in your area. I have one next door. She is my sister.
|
Where in okhlahoma are you? It don't take much to be a
crazy Okie, and that's no way to think about your sis or does that include you too? LOL Marilyn (The Crazy Okie) |
Hi, and welcome from OKlahoma.
|
It seems that the Okies and ex-Okies have taken over this discussion. I noticed the remarks from one person from Missouri, but I know several ex-Okies in Missouri and my daughter, who is an ex-Okie, once removed.
