Thanks everyone for the welcome. I am really enjoying this. LOL

I need help with a machine applique problem and hope some of you know what I'm talking about. I'm making a baby quilt for my first, soon to be, GG Baby. I used light weight heat and bond on my applique pieces and I'm getting frayed and breaking thread and skipped stitches when I try to applique the edges. I've changed needles about 3 times and changed thread several times and even took out the bobbin case and cleaned it. I also lowered the tension. My machine seems to sew fine when I'm doing regular stitching and can't figure out the problem. Is it possible that the machine could be out of time when doing the zig zag stitching and not the straight stitch. I hate to take it to the shop, which is about 35 miles away and look like a fool because it's something I could fix. If anyone has any suggestions I would certainly appreciate them.

Thanks in advance, Sassy granny

Hi there Sassy! I think a lot of us KY grannies are sassy.LOL No idea what your sewing problem is,I've never had that problem. I usually use a lightweight fusible interfacing on my patches, then add a few spots of washable glue to hold in place while I sew. Are you getting any signs of glue on your needle? If so, you are using craft fusible, not the stuff for sewing. I made that mistake once!

hi from aussie---use a testpiece of fabric [red thread on white]---? top tension may be too tight--
