I recently tried to tie a lap throw and could not find a needle that the yarn would go through and at the same time pull through the whole quilt thickness. Even went to LGS and they didn't act like they even knew about tie quilting with yard. Said everyone used certain threads. Any help appreciated.

Beautiful quilt! I am having trouble finding a needle that the yarn will go through. When it goes through the needles eye then I can't pull the eye with yarn through the quilt. What size/type needle should I use? Thank you so much.
