Sewing for a long time but just starting to quilt/ California

Hello there my name is Megan and I live in nornthern California with my two boys. I have been sewing for a while. My mom taught me when I was a kid and I have been in love ever since. She has been trying to get me to quilt for a long time. But I was too busy working full time and the boys to really sit and learn something new.

A few months ago I needed to make something for a baby shower and since times were tough then I decided to make a baby quilt. And now I am hooked. I dont like to follow a specific pattern. For some reason following a pattern makes me anxious (call me crazy its ok I do) I like to play with the fabrics and see what I can come up with. And fortuneitly for me my mom has a fabric addiction and I can play with a lot of different colors varieties. I sew on a Singer Curvy and I love it. Except it beeps at me every once in a while and I cant figure it out. Any help would be much appreciated.

Welcome from Ontario, Canada. I don't have any experience with that machine, sorry. My machine beeps if the foot isn't down or if the lever for filling the bobbin is engaged.

Welcome from SC Texas. I have a Singer 401A and it does not beep. I have a Brother that does and as Tartan said if the presser foot is up it will beep and also if there is an error anywhere it will beep and stop. When mine does that I unthread it and take the bobbin out to make sure the bobbin case is clean, no lent or thread in it. then I put it back in rethread the machine and it works fine.
