I consider myself a new quilter even though I have been quilting about 7 years. My first quilt I saw "Trip around the World" in a quilt shop, measured the blocks with my index finger, bought the material I liked , went home and cut 3,000 2 inch blocks. It took me 5 years to get the thing sewn togeter. Hand done but I finished it. Last year (2009) I did 5 quilts, simple ones and in 2010 I did 10 quilts. My best was "Desert Sand" in greens and sand and the prettiest was 'Crossways' in pink oriental and black. I almost have mitering down but have problems with borders getting wavy. Help

Welcome from Arkansas.
To prevent wavy borders, measure your quilt on 2 parallel sides and down the middle, also parallel. Take the average of the 3 & cut your two border strips. Ease them if you have to. Do the same for the other two. If you have cut your strips straight, you should be able to have flat borders. |

There are tutorials that some one can guide you to that teaches you how to do borders and how to miter the corners so you don't have wavy borders. Jan
