Hi! My user name is Slyghfox and I am new to the quilters message board. I am a retired jr. high teacher and live with my husband and pet terrier "Sadie" for 6 mo. of the year in the northern part of Michigan, and the other 6 mo. in Arizona or traveling in a motorhome, where I steal every bit of extra space for my sewing machine and quilting "stuff".
I look forward to learning a lot from all the members and hope I can contribute as well. :)

Hi! We live in a little tourist/fishing town called St. Helen...Exit 222 on I-75....about 15 miles from West Branch/Roscommon/Houghton Lake. I think I will really enjoy this messge board. Thanks for asking!

You are living my dream, also.
I've tried to get my husband to look at travel trailers, etc, but instead we seem to accumulate more puppies!
Now we have 3, including a lab, and I think that would be a bit too much to travel with.
Please tell us of your adventures....
Purple

Oh yeah, WELCOME to our board!

Hi from Canada. We call folks like you snowbirds and I've always wondered how it is to have two homes. Look forward to getting to know you and seeing pictures of your quilts. Welcome.

Slyghfox 06-10-2008 04:26 AM

Wow! What a nice reception from all of you! I think Yuma, Arizona is the warmest place on Earth in the Winter and the hottest in the summer!
Right now Michigan is grey and gloomy, plagued with rain and tornadoes the past few days, but a great time to quilt! I just finished this quilt top and am planning to have it professionaly quilted as it is queen size...too big for my machine! I am also including a picture of a lap quilt titled "Quilters Puzzle" which I'm planning to quilt myself. Last, but not least, is a picture of my new puppy, Sadie, a mini rat terrier, who has healed our hearts after our minpin Sam passed last year.

I am not sure just how this works so I hope the pictures go through okay!

Having two homes is great but a LOT of work and expense for utilities, taxes, etc. for a place you are away from for 6 months at a time. We are seriously thinking of "going full time" (as the RVers call it)but with the economy as it is and housing market in a slump, it may be some time yet.

Enough of me! I better get busy and quilt before the sun comes out and I HAVE to go fishing!! Have a wonderful day
