I started out a more traditional quilter, but quickly found art quilts. The fish is from an Alzheimer fund raiser that was auctioned by Aimee Simms a few years ago. My Aunt Rosie died of Alzheimers and she took me fishing in the 1950s. The other picture is a quilt using a picture of me around 3 years old in early 1950s. I got it started in a workshop with Ruth McDowell. I could fall asleep anywhere. The doll is a rag doll with no face that my Mom made for me.

Lovely, thanks for sharing.

The fractured abstract-y quilt is really, really interesting.
I'll have to go look at her technique for this. I have her earlier books. |
Very nice. Thanks for posting.

I think it was mostly her Piecing: Expanding the Basics book. I had tried to do some of the odd shapes in a previous quilt and the workshop helped me with that as well.

Yesterday I realized that some of my pictures were not on this computer, but on another one. So, I grabbed a couple of them. Here is the Easy Sleep of the Young finished (the earlier one was in progress), my Heros of Texas that I too late discovered Ruth McDowell piecing methods for, and Whirligig which was using my saved strings from the washer from all the hand dyed fabric I did over about 6 months.

Ruth McDowell got me started on art quilts in the '90s at a retreat in Sisters, Oregon. They are still my passion! Glad to have you on the Board, from Los Angeles.
